Description
It's 1976 and doctors race to be first to produce a controversial in vitro fertilization (IVF) baby. Dr. Colin Sanford, an ambitious obstetrician with a plan, recruits a geneticist, Dr. Giselle Hearn, and working secretly they set out to make history. But a lab supervisor discovers their secret and blackmails them. Just as the doctor's patient gives birth, the woman's schizophrenic husband kills Dr. Hearn and then himself. Police Detective Bernie Baumgartner's investigation is hampered by officials wary of the publicity and by the police chief who considers it the work of a mentally unstable man--case closed. But Baumgartner suspects Sanford and Hearn were doing IVF, with murder and suicide the fallout
