Description
Disc 1. North Star: "Kolya, Kurin, Damian, and Marina are Ukraine farmers whose whole way of life is turned upside down when Germany, in disregard of former treaties, takes over the land in an iron-fisted occupation. Many of the enraged farmers take up arms in opposition of the Nazi, heading to the countryside to fight, while the people left behind destroy their crops rather than relinquish them to the German regime"--Container. Submarine base: "It is World War II and the Nazis have just sunk an American ship. The ship's engineer Jim Taggart survives and is rescued by a local fisherman off the coast of South America. Taggart recognizes the fisherman as Joe Morgan, a former New York gangster. Morgan has been living on the island, lying low and staying at a halfway house that also serves as a bar for the island's farmers and traders. Soon Taggart discovers that Morgan has been selling torpedoes to the Nazis but he doesn't know that Morgan has designed the missiles to explode when the German boats go to sea, thus sinking them. Confusion and mayhem result when the Allies and the Nazis question just whom Morgan is working for"--Container. Gung ho!: "A true-life epic that revolves around an exclusive division of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, made up of only the strongest, fittest, most talented men nicknamed "Carlson's Raiders". They make their raid on Makin Island, resulting in a volatile confrontation that will go down in history"--Container. The sell out: "An action-drama centered on a former CIA operative who grudgingly rejoins the spy-game due to the machinations of his one-time student, a screw up who goes to work for the Soviets. As his job drags him deeper into a dangerous and under-handed world, the student wants out of the agency and out of the U.S.S.R. But the man's choices have made him a target and now both the United States and Russia want him dead, sending their most able hit men to do it"--Container
Description
Disc 2. Black brigade: "Set at the time of World War II, the film revolves around Army Captain Beau Carter who, although he is not racist, holds no particular affection for African-Americans. As fate would have it, Carter is assigned an all-black unit of soldiers and must share his directive with an African-American lieutenant, causing racial tensions to flare. But the men must learn to work together and look beyond their outward differences if they hope to destroy the enemy and not each other"--Container. Half-shot at sunrise: A military comedy about two mischief-making soldiers who have gone AWOL. But the misbehaving boys are unconcerned about being court-martialed. Instead they are far more interested in tomfoolery and parading about camp, posing as officers to impress some lovely ladies. Thier monkey business results in a very close call with the firing squad"--Container. They raid by night: "It is the height of World War II, and the conflict between the warring factions has reached a frenzied pitch. Three men band together, forming a British commando unit that is to be dispatched to Norway to execute a raid on a Nazi concentration camp. The goal is to recoup allied officer General Heden, who has been captured and is being held by the hostile Nazis"--Container. Five for hell: "Five of the most capable and courageous soldiers of a squadron are chosen by their commander, Lieutenant Glenn Hoffmann to infiltrate a Nazi camp and retrieve the plans containing the Germans' battle strategy. The men go into the operation knowing that they may fail and that some of them may not come back. The five G.I.s discover the deadly danger behind enemy lines, and learn just how quickly a night can become a terrifying hell on earth"--Container
